Cereus, the name of a genus of plants that flower and bloom at night. This was meant to encapsulate the notion that as student designers we find much of our creative growth in the hours, often into the late (or early) hours of the night. As a member of the multimedia team, we were to create a video that showcases the class's experiences and digital work. My team and I decided that we wanted to let our classmates voice the story, and the visuals would follow. We drafted a basic structure for the video and proceeded to interview each of our classmates. From their answers, the story naturally unfolded, and we quickly moved into storyboarding, and then into filming. The animations were the final step to add to the ideas blooming. My roles in this process included planning, assisting in filming and acting throughout the video, cutting very basic raw audio, but the majority of my role was to create the animations that grew throughout the intro of the piece. I included two versions. The first is the five-minute intro and the second is the full video with the interviews and ending portions.
